Event Period Forms (or, Event Forms) are accessed from the front-end in the same manner as Time Period Forms.
If the user has the relevant security permissions, the event form will be presented as per the tabs configured in the Flow Configuration tool.
With an Event Form, a user is able to to add/modify certain aspects of the event period's data, such as:
- The start and end times of an event period
- Creating a new event period
- Entering / Modifying attribute values
To add or modify an event period, use the "hamburger menu" (Event Options Menu) at the beginning of each row (a row represents an event period).
The Event Options menu will open with all or some of the following options:
- Insert
- Edit
- Split
- Delete
The options available are, from left to right:
|
Add a new event entry between the current and the subsequent event. This option might not be visible if there is no “time gap” available between events |
|
Edit an existing event. This include editing of the start and end times of the selected event. |
|
Split an existing event into two parts. Any attribute values will be duplicated for the new/second event period created. The attribute values may be edited after the split operation |
|
Deletes the selected event |
If there are no events displayed on the form for the selected time period, click on the Event Options Menu that is always visible to the left of the first column heading.
The only option you will get if there are no event periods displayed is to "Insert" an event.
When you insert an event like this, the Start Time defaults to the time that the Insert button was selected.
You can edit the start and end time of the event you want to insert, or you can just start the event and not end it yet (an open-ended event).
If you're trying to change the start time, and Flow is not allowing you to go change the time to the selected time but is rather adjusting it to a later time, it is likely because there is another event that overlaps the start time that you're trying to set. You cannot have overlapping event periods for a given event.
Add
Selecting the add icon will present the user with a “Insert” edit window to complete:
Notice that the row being edited will be highlighted in the form report in the background. The insert popup has the following operation:
|
The event duration can be edited by specifying the duration of the different time part in the popup. This will keep the start date in tack but bring the end time forward. The duration by default is the entire time available from the selected event record’s end time to the start time of the subsequent event. |
|
The start time of the event can be selected by using the date time picker. |
|
The event duration can also be configured by using the sliders on the duration time bar. |
|
The insert operation can be completed or canceled by selecting either the “Edit” or ”Cancel” buttons at the bottom of the Insert popup |
In some cases, it will not be able to add a new event and you will not be presented with the “add” button.
The reason for this is that the end date of the current date is equal to the start date of the net event, thus there is no “gap” in the time period to add another event. However, one can edit the start or end date to create “space” to enter a new event.
Edit
Selecting the edit icon will present the user with an “Edit” edit window to complete:
Notice that the row being edited will be highlighted in the form report in the background. The edit popup has the following operation:
|
The event duration can be edited by specifying the duration of the different time part in the popup. This will keep the start date in tack but bring the end time forward. |
|
The start time of the event can be selected by using the date time picker. |
|
The event duration can also be configured by using the sliders on the duration time bar. The duration bar shows the current event duration in conjunction with the total time available up until the previous event’s end time and subsequent event’s start time. |
|
The edit operation can be completed or canceled by selecting either the “Edit” or ”Cancel” buttons at the bottom of the Insert popup |
Split
Selecting the split icon will present the user with an “Split” edit window to complete:
Notice that the row being split will be highlighted in the form report in the background. The split popup has the following operation:
|
The event duration can be edited by specifying the duration of the different time part in the popup. This will keep the start date in tack and update the split ratio. The split ratio by default is set to split the event in equal parts (50:50). The ratio is included as a visual indicator on the popup. |
|
The split ratio can also be configured by using the slider on the duration time bar. The slider by default will be inserted the middle of the time bar, indication a 50:50 ratio split. |
|
The edit operation can be completed or canceled by selecting either the “Split” or ”Cancel” buttons at the bottom of the Insert popup |
The previous entered attributes will be duplicated in the new split event.
Attribute Values
Attributes retrieved from a data source will be populated automatically and can be edited. If an enumeration had been associated with and attribute, to options will be presented by means of a drop-down box.
If no enumerator had been selected and the attribute is a manually entered attribute, a free form text box will be presented to add free text.
