Charts - Event Based Table

This article will be updated in the near future! In the meanwhile, if the following information is insufficient, contact support@flow-software.com.

Charts-EventBasedTableReport.png

This type of report is used to provide more detail about the displayed measures that have been “Sliced” by an event. It is similar to a landscape spreadsheet view of your data. This type of report has the ability to highlight when limits are exceeded, when data is of a bad quality, when data has been commented on, as well as when a data point is not the original version. It can also show a Gantt chart of the time lapse of the particular event. This type of chart is highly flexible and has many features. As such we will discuss each feature in the following subsections.

An Event Based Table chart consists of the following groups:

General

The General tab is used to define the general layout of the default period displayed and which indicators to display by default. The General tab consists of Table, Title, Period and Indicators.

Table

Charts-EventBasedTableGeneral.png

The Table section has the following properties:

  • Back Color
This sets the color of the background area that surrounds the table. The default is the “Windows” theme color.
  • Grid Color
This sets the cell border colors. The default is the “Border” theme color.
  • Font Size
This sets the measure rows font size. The default is 12.
  • Left
This sets the padding to the left of the table. The default is 0.
  • Right
This sets the padding to the right of the table. The default is 0.
  • Top
This sets the padding to the top of the table. The default is 0
  • Bottom
This sets the padding to the top of the table. The default is 0.

The figure below shows the effect of updating the above properties for an Event Based table. The properties are annotated to demonstrate the effect of each of the properties on the chart.

Title

Refer to the general “Title” chart properties section for more information.

Period

Refer to the general “Period” chart properties section for more information.

Indicators

The Indicators section has the following properties:

  • Show Quality
This sets whether the quality indicator is displayed by default (if a measure’s value is not good). The default is false.
  • Show Comments
This sets whether the comment indicator is displayed by default, if a measure value has been commented on. The default is false.
  • Show Version
This sets whether the version indicator is displayed by default if a measure value is not the original version. The default is false.

Headers

The Headers tab define the layout of the row and column headers that are displayed on a report.

Column Headers

Column headers are used to configure and display the event period information. It consists of a “Base Header”. The Header has the following properties:

  • Back Color
This is used to set the background color of the cell.
  • Font Color
This sets the color of the font in the cell.
  • Font Size
This sets the size of the font in the cell.
  • Font Bold
This sets whether the font in the cell is bold.
  • Font Italic
This sets whether the font in the cell is italicized.
  • Alignment
This sets the horizontal alignment of the text in the cell.

Column headers include the following components that can be added or removed to the column configuration:

  • Identifier
If required, an identifier can be configured to display a unique event number.
  • Period Start
The start time stamp of the event.
  • Period End
The end time stamp of the event.
  • Gantt
Displays a Gantt bar of the event time lapse.

Sections

Charts-EventBasedTableSections.png

Sections are used to group related information together. The Sections tab is used to configure this. Sections can be added, removed and reordered in the Sections tab. Sections have the following properties:

Charts-EventBasedTableSectionsConfig.png

  • Title
This sets the section’s title text.
  • Caption
This sets the caption text to 60% of the size of the main title’s font. This text is displayed below the title.
  • Collapsed
This specifies that if a section is collapsed by default, the section can still be expanded/collapsed by clicking the on the title.
  • Stacked
This specifies if a section is stacked directly on top of another section, or if a space is inserted between sections.
  • Back Color
This sets the background color of the section’s title cell.

This sets whether the text in the title is italicized.

Events

Events can be added to a section by dragging it from the Model View onto a section. All the attributes associated with the event will be automatically under the event. If attributes are added to the event later, these attributes can be added to the chart by manually dragging them under the relative event. Event layout configuration on the chart are defined by the following sections:

General

The General section is used to set the title of the event’s row, set the identifier properties as well as if the row uses bold text or if the row is italicized. The default title for the row is set to show the index as the identifier and can be overwritten.

Gantt

If the Gantt header had been added in the Headers configuration, it can be edited for each event that has been added in the particular sections. Specific attributes can be used as a “Source” of the Gantt’s bar colors. This can be changed by dragging the attribute from the Model view under the Gannt property.

A base color can also be supplied if attribute colors are not being applied to the Gantt.

Color

The Color section is used to configure the events data cell colors and behavior. The base color can be set when clicking on the Color item. Base color is a static color used to color the cell background colors. Opacity sets the opacity of the cells, this defaults to 0 which means that all cells appear the same color as the table’s background color. It is possible to add the following color providers:

  • Attribute
This color provider will generate a color based on the value of the attribute linked to it.

This color provider will generate a color based on the value of the attribute linked to it.

To change the colors used for the attribute values, see the section on events had how to assign colors to specific attribute values.

Measure

Measures that had been “sliced” by an event can be added to the event in the events section. Measure layout configuration on the chart is defined by the following sections:

General

The General section is used to set the title of the measure’s row as well as if the row uses bold text or if the row is italicized. The default title for the row is set to the measure’s name and can be overwritten.

Header

The Header section applies to the row header area of the measure’s row. It consists of the following properties:

Color

The Color section is used to configure the measure’s data cell colors and behavior. The base color can be set when clicking on the Color item. Base color is a static color used to color the cell background colors. Opacity sets the opacity of the cells.
