After you've installed Flow, the Flow Config tool may be launched from the shortcut with the Flow logo as its icon.
Flow Config is the application used to create and configure your Flow Information Platforms. Multiple Flow Config applications can be used on a single Flow Information Platform at the same time.
When you open the Flow Config tool, a splash screen appears while the application is launching.
Once the Config tool has performed its background tasks, you are presented with the "Connect" dialog.
Connect
When starting the Flow Config tool, you will be presented with the “Connect” dialog box, as follows:
The “Connect” dialog box serves two purposes:
- Create a new Flow Information Platform system
- Connect to an existing Flow Information Platform system
Create a new Flow System
To create a new system, make sure to select the (New) “shortcut” from the drop-down.
Enter a name and SQL connection details for the new Flow Database, then click “Create”.
Confirm the new system’s Time Zone and Culture settings, then click “Create” again. Flow will create a new Flow Database, import the standard Flow Modules and then connect to the new system.
Connect to an existing Flow System
To connect to and open an existing system, select the system from the “shortcut” dropdown and click “Connect”. If a “shortcut” does not exist, expand the “Options” section, enter a name and SQL Database connection details for the existing Flow Database, then click “Connect”. If Flow connects to the existing Flow Database, it will also create a new "shortcut" for you.
