The Flow Config tool has been designed to be a drag ‘n drop environment. The layout of various tree views enables rapid configuration of new measures, events, charts, dashboards and messages.
Menu Bar
Like any Windows application, Flow Config has a menu bar at the top. The menu items include the following:
On the far right of the Menu Bar, you will find the Version information of the Config Tool that you are using.
Tabs on the left
The first tab on the left is the “Model” tab. It represents the physical model of your production facility. Flow allows this model to be completely flexible, however, it is advisable to follow a structure like S88 or S95 where possible. It is a good idea to define a naming standard early in your configuration process.
Notice the “Deployment” and “Users” tabs at the bottom of the Model view.
See the following articles for more information on each of these tabs:
Tabs on the right
The first tab on the right is the “Reporting” tab. It represents an Information Model. Like the Model view, it is completely flexible; however, it is advisable to model this view on the structure of your report, chart and dashboard consumers (i.e. your audience).
Notice the other tabs at the bottom of the Information Model, namely, “Forms”, “Messages”, “Toolbox”, “Data Integration” and “Templates”.
See the following articles for more information on each of these tabs:
The Flow "Zone"
The Flow Zone refers to the vertical toolbar that is located to the right of the Model view when working in the Model view, or to the left of the Information view when working with Templates. See The Flow "Zone" for more information on this special toolbar.
Editor Space
In the center of the Flow Config window is a space where all the object editors will open. All objects (i.e. Measures, Events, Charts, Dashboards, Forms, Messages, Engines, etc.) have their own editors, which will open up when the objects are double-clicked.
The Defaults Toolbar
The Defaults Toolbar is the horizontal toolbar located near the top of the Flow Config tool window, directly above the Editor Space. It facilitates rapid creation of your Flow Model and/or Template structures. See The Defaults Toolbar for more information.
Change Logs
When objects in the Flow configuration are created or modified, a configuration change log is maintained for each object. These change logs will be found at the bottom of each objects’ editor, as follows:
Note that by default the change log viewer will only display the last 7 days of logs. To view more logs, use the “magnifying glass” button on the right to adjust the log filter.
