Understand how to modify a Template and propagate changes to the Instances that have been derived from the Template.
Tutorial steps
- Add Roll-ups to the Steam Templates – Add a Shift to Date and a Day to Date roll-up of the Steam Production to the template
- Release the new Measures - to flag an "update-required" on all instances derived from the Steam template
- Update the Instances - to create the new measures at an instance level
- Add the roll-ups to the Chart configuration – add the new measures to the chart by using the table chart’s extensions properties
Shift to Date and Day to Date roll-ups
We can make changes to our template to include completely new measure types and propagate these to the instances.
Create a "Shift to Date" as well as "Day to Date" measure by dragging the Production measure onto the hourly icon in the Template view:
Notice that Flow will automatically add a "Shift to Date (STD)" measure. Repeat the Step and notice Flow will create a "Day to Date (DTD)" measure:
Release the new measures.
Notice that all three Steam metrics in the Model view now have the "Blue Disk" icon, highlighting the fact that their templates have updates that need to be propagated to them:
Update the "Production" measures of all three Steam metrics. Notice that the two new measures will be automatically created and the "Blue Disk" icon has disappeared:
Make sure to deploy these newly created measures.
Add Extensions to the Engineering Report Chart
Open the "Engineering Hourly Report", expand the "Headers" sections and locate the "Column Headers" property. Expand the column headers and add extensions to the "Base Header" column …
Add a "Shiftly" and "Daily" Extension…
Select the "Sections" tab and locate the "Steam Production" measure. Expand the "Details section" of the measure configuration section…
Now, by performing a "Drag and Drop" operation. Link the newly created "STD" and "DTD" measures to the "Shiftly" and "Daily" Extensions on the report:
Repeat this for all three Production measures.
Now open your "Engineering Dashboard" from the "Charts" Tab …
Scroll to the end of the Chart, Notice that the Chart has two new columns, one for the "Shift to Date" value and one for the "Day to Date" value…
