A Shift Pattern is used to define shifts for weekly period. Flow uses this pattern to generate the shift “Time Periods” against which Measure values can be aggregated, calculated and stored.
Under your calendar configuration, any shift patterns that you have configured will be displayed. By default, Flow creates one shift pattern for you when you create your Flow instance. Shift Patterns are identified by their start date and time. This date and time determines the point in time from which the shift pattern takes effect. If a shift pattern needs to change from 3x8 to 2x12 at a specific point in time, then a new Shift Pattern needs to be created using the start date and time for that new pattern.
It is possible to configure one or more shift patterns into the future, such as when you know your shift pattern will change depending on the calendar month, or during your peak production period.
Note: The creation of new shift patterns need to be done before the actual time of shift change.
To configure a shift pattern, double-click on Calendars > [Your Calendar Name] > [The Shift Pattern You Want To Change]
This will open the Shift Pattern Editor, in which you configure the duration of each of the shift types in the shift pattern that you selected.
Note: By default, Flow will create a shift pattern for any calendar that you create (and the default calendar) that comprises 3 shift types of 8 hour duration each. These 3 shifts types are named "Morning", "Afternoon", and "Night". You can adjust the names of these Shift Types if you wish.
The start of the week is defined by the Shift Pattern’s parent Calendar. The start of the day is defined by the Shift Pattern’s parent Calendar.
By definition, a Shift Pattern has a duration of one week (i.e. 7 “Production” days). Flow will repeat the pattern from the Date and Time definition every week, up until a new Shift Pattern definition is found.
You can insert or delete shifts by right-clicking on the shift type and selecting an option from the context menu that opens.
Note: The Shift Pattern does not allow any gaps. If a “gap” is required, it is suggested that an additional shift type be created with a suitable name.
